Arrival in Tanzania & Transfer to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your private mountain guide and transferred in a comfortable vehicle to your hotel in Moshi, where you will check in at Lammama Hotel and relax after your journey. In the evening, you will receive a detailed Kilimanjaro climbing briefing covering the 8 Days Lemosho Route itinerary, safety guidelines, and equipment preparation to ensure you are fully ready for your adventure to Uhuru Peak. This day is dedicated to rest, recovery, and preparation for the start of your climb.

Londorossi Gate → Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast at your hotel in Moshi, your mountain guide and support crew will pick you up and drive for approximately 3–4 hours to Londorossi Gate (2,250m), where you will complete park registration and obtain climbing permits. From there, you will continue to the Lemosho trailhead, where the trek begins through lush and untouched rainforest. Along the trail, you may spot Colobus monkeys and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The hike is moderately steep in some sections and takes around 2–3 hours to reach Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m), where your camping crew will have already set up tents and prepared lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a short acclimatization hike with a gentle elevation gain before returning to camp for dinner and overnight stay under the rainforest canopy. and this Altitude: 2,250m – 2,650m

The hike takes approximately 3–4 hours before arriving at Shira 2 Camp (3,840m), where your mountain crew will set up tents and prepare hot meals. Shira 2 Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp
After breakfast at Shira 2 Camp, you will begin a steady climb through the alpine desert zone towards Lava Tower, one of the key acclimatization points on the Lemosho Route. The landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic as you gain altitude, offering incredible views of Kilimanjaro’s volcanic formations and surrounding peaks. You will reach Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch and an important acclimatization stop before descending to Barranco Camp. After a long but rewarding day, you will arrive at Barranco Camp (3,960m), where your crew will have already set up tents and prepared hot meals.

Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
After an early breakfast, descend into Ngorongoro Crater for an exciting game drive inside the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater is home to a high concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places for a Big Five Tanzania safari. During your game drive, you may spot rhinos, lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, and many other animals while enjoying the crater’s spectacular scenery. Later in the afternoon, drive to Acacia Farm Lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp
After breakfast at Karanga Camp, you will continue your ascent towards Barafu Camp, the final base camp before your summit attempt. The trail passes through the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and barren, offering spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding mountain terrain. The hike is steady and allows you to gain altitude gradually while preparing for the challenge ahead. Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, your crew will set up camp and serve an early dinner. After a final briefing from your guide, you will rest for a few hours in preparation for the midnight trek to Uhuru Peak.

Around midnight, you will begin your summit attempt, trekking by headlamp through the darkness towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most demanding stage of the climb, but also the most rewarding. After reaching Stella Point (5,756m), you will continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. At sunrise, enjoy breathtaking views above the clouds and celebrate your achievement at the Roof of Africa. After taking photos and enjoying the moment, you will descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and lunch before continuing down through the alpine and moorland zones to Mweka Camp. This unforgettable day marks the successful completion of your summit adventure.
